Graveside service for Lorene Faye Carter, 89, of Lamesa will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Dee Woolam officiating.
Many people are now starting to wear face masks and gloves when they go out in public as a precaution against spreading the COVID-19 virus, as this person did while picking up free books outside the county library this past week. While noting that masks and gloves can be somewhat helpful if used properly, local doctors said they shouldn’t be a substitute for good hygiene and social distancing.
With four cases being confirmed this past Wednesday and two more on Thursday, Dawson County now has a total 20 cases of COVID-19.
Lamesa will be the site this coming Thursday of a COVID-19 Mobile Test Collection program coordinated by various state agencies in cooperation with local entities.
With local officials continuing to follow state guidelines in response to the COVID-19 crisis, they are anxiously awaiting a planned announcement Monday by Governor Greg Abbott.
The grade which they had at the end of third nine-week grading period will basically be the grade that students in the Lamesa school district receive for the school year, according to Superintendent Jim Knight.
High school graduation ceremonies across the area are scheduled to start in just three week, but plans remain unsettled at this time due to statewide restrictions related to the COVID-19 situation.
