About 40 farmers from across the area were in attendance at the annual South Mesa Agricultural Conference held Thursday at the LeeRoy Colgan community building. Hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office here, the conference featured information about weeds, reducing pesticide applications plant pathogens, the cotton economy and the best crops to plant after a cotton crop fails. The event also allowed those in attendance to earn continue educational development credits for pesticide applicators. LPR photo
After the first three days of the filing positions for various local advisory positions up for election this spring there apparently has not yet been anyone throw their proverbial hat in the ring.

Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce board members are postponing the Chamber’s annual banquet so the board can focus on hiring a new Chamber president.
Lamesa City Council members will have a heavy agenda before them when they meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall at 601 S. 1st Street.
The Dawson County Hospital District board is meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Medical Arts Hospital conference room at 2200 N. Bryan Ave.
