In less than two more weeks, the annual rodeo will take place with roping and riding events, concerts and the announcement of the 2022 Rodeo Queen.

On their fi rst business day Friday, owners and staff at Yummies participated in a ribbon-cutting with a Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce. Owners Maribel and Paul Hernandez, and their daughter, Leslie Hernandez, had the honor of cutting the red ribbon. The business, located at 106 NE 2nd Street, offers an array of Italian ices, ice cream fl avors and shaved ice, along with agua frescas, nachos, Frito pies and hot dogs. The business is open from noon until 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. LPR photo

Masonic Milam Lodge #11 members presented a recent Sands High School graduate, Alexandra Plata, 18, with a scholarship to help her continue her education at Howard College to study for a career in anesthesiology.
