‘Elf on the Shelf’ in trouble in LHS play
Lamesa High School (LHS) drama students performed their production of “The Elf on the Shelf Must Die” this week to elementary, middle and high school students.
EAGLE SCOUT
Hunter Joe Carpenter received Scouting’s Eagle badge on Sunday, Dec. 4. Hunter is the son of T.J. and Priscilla Carpenter of Lubbock. He is also the grandson of Tommy and Mary Carpenter of Lamesa and Joe and Mary Reyes of Vernon, Hunter completed his Eagle project by helping Northside Baptist Church in Lamesa. Hunter has been part of Scouts since beginning as a Tiger Cub with Pack 509 then moving to Troop 505 where he was able to reach the top of Scouting, Eagle.

Christmas events Saturday
The Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Christmas in the Park festivities from 5 p.m. until about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, with a lighted parade in the park and a fireworks show in the rodeo grounds.
Council eyes animal ideas
City council members Tuesday reviewed possible solutions to the growing stray dog problem which included requiring registration, setting impound fees and converting a building into an animal shelter.
‘Lights’ to aid 117 children
Lights of Love volunteers know how many families they will be aiding with Christmas gifts but they don’t know yet exactly how many toys, coats and other items they will be able to provide.
