After watching her sluggers practice for nearly a month now, Golden Tornado softball coach Vanessa Hernandez believes they are ready for their first game. “It’s really been going pretty good out there. It seems like we’ve been getting better day by day,” Hernandez said. Hernandez also likes what she’s been seeing in her sluggers’ three scrimmages. Their final tune-up was to be held here Saturday at Joe Spikes Field against Crane. The Golden Tornadoes will open their season here this coming week when they host the Coahoma Bulldogs. A timing of that game depends on what Lamesa’s girls basketball team ends up doing.
