After dropping the first meeting last month, the Sands Mustangs have knocked off the Klondike Cougars twice in the past two weeks to secure District 8A’s runner-up spot in the Class 1A boys’ state basketball playoffs.The Mustangs needed a late rally Friday at O’Donnell’s Eagle Gym after Klondike’s Jared Quintanilla hit a three-pointer which put the Cougars up 50-48 in the fourth quarter.A putback by Sands’ David Klassen put the Mustangs back on top 52-51 with 2:15 remaining.
