For almost four decades, Steven Payson has held the elected office of county attorney.He was working in private practice when he was appointed to the position on May 31, 1985. His predecessor was in his 70’s and ready for retirement after a dozen years on the job.“Beat out all comers,” Payson said. “I had three years experience and that was three years more than anybody else.
