Thursday evening’s football scrimmage at Ackerly featured two area teams which reached the playoffs against each other: the Division II O’Donnell Eagles and Division I Sands Mustangs. With a big edge in numbers the Eagles outscored the Mustangs, four touchdowns to two, in the scrimmage before battling to a 12-12 score in a live quarter. “When you’ve got 28 kids out, it’s easier to keep them all fresh,” Sands Coach Steve Keith said of the Eagles. “But you really don’t win scrimmages anyway.
