A steadily improving and talented squad helps keep Coach Jose Lucio happy about being back as his high school alma mater as the Golden Tornadoes’ tennis coach. Last Saturday at Denver City, the Golden Tornadoes took on two soon-to-be district opponents. Lamesa opened up that tri-match by beating Denver City, 11-7. The Tors, however, ran into a buzzsaw later that day against Brownfield, getting shutout 7-0. Denver City and Brownfield are both Class 3A schools.
