Both O’Donnell High School’s girls and boys basketball squads made it to the Class 1A playoffs this year.Both teams are also well recognized on this season’s all-District 6-1A Basketball Teams.Sophomore Yatzel Renteria is 6-1A Girls’ Offensive Player of the Year, having averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds per game.“She was pretty dominant underneath the basket. She got a lot of her points off of putbacks. Yatzel can post people up and also pull up and hit the three (pointer),” O’Donnell Coach Allison Hancock said.Freshman Karrigan James was chosen one of the district’s top newcomers.
