Local runners were again at or near the front of the pack in cross country competition this past Saturday in the Plains Invitational at the Yoakum County Golf Course.Sands’ sophomore Wiley Gaskins took top individual honors in the varsity boys division and Sands eighth grader Carlos Plata won the junior high boys competition for the second weekend in a row.Plata should be another runner to watch for the years to come at Ackerly.“Just being born into that family you know he’s going to be a runner.
