Lamesa City Council members gave their blessing Tuesday to Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) plans to temporarily close a five-block stretch of Bryan Ave. (Hwy. 137) during a water and sewer line replacement project by the city.The work to relocate and replace water and sewer lines will shut down Hwy. 137 from N. 4th street to S. 2nd street.Mayor Josh Stevens said shutting down the roadway will be a hassle for drivers in a well-traveled area, but it will cut the project time by six months.“The hope and the plan is doing it this way it will take months off ...
