Vasquez served country during a different era

Now 95 years old, Sele Vasquez spends many of his days at the Dawson County Senior Citizens Center playing dominoes.Times are much different now than in the 1940s when he was a teenager in Corpus Christi.It was perhaps an accident of fate which led Vasquez to enlist in the U.S. Army at the age of 15 as an infantry man during World War II.Enlisting wasn’t in his plans, but when he quit a dish-washing job after his boss got mad at him for accidentally dropping a crate full of dishes, his employer must have contacted the military.
