Zoey Trevino, salutatorian of the recent graduating class at Lamesa High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the $2,000 Buckel-Lamesa Service Club Scholarship.The daughter of Anthony and Lydia Trevino, Zoey will be attending the Texas Tech University Honors college this fall to pursue a degree in the field of medicine.Originally called the Walter and Rubye Buckel Scholarship, the award was established in 1999 by friends and associates of Walter Buckel, longtime publisher of the Lamesa Press-Reporter.At the Buckels’ request, the name of the scholarship was changed in 2011 to the Buckel-Kiwanis Club Scholarship to recognize the club’s participation ...
