With just over a day remaining in the filing period, Lamesa Mayor Josh Stevens filed Thursday as a candidate for re-election to that position.Filing for the May 7 spring election ended Friday. Write-in candidates have until this coming Tuesday to file their candidacy.Stevens will face former council member Doug Morris in the mayoral race.Morris stepped down from his District 6 position on the council last month when he filed to run for the mayor’s seat.The council this past week called for a special election for Morris’ replacement.
