Members of the Lamesa Fire and Rescue use foam, water and hooks to extinguish a fire that ignited under the metal awning of a privately owned garage at 612 S. Dallas Ave. Wednesday morning. A passerby reported the fire at 8:06 a.m. Firefighters used the hooks to remove the metal and stucco to get to the burning wood underneath. The fire didn’t spread to the building. Officials are still investigating the fire’s cause. Texas Department of Public Safety and Lamesa Police Department officers also responded to the emergency call. Both sides of that portion of S.
