Last weekend, it was church volunteers who distributed school supplies and clothing to students preparing for the upcoming new school year. Families picked up the materials during the 25th annual Back to School Giveaway held at the Second Baptist Church Saturday.Starting Friday, it’s the state’s turn to assist parents in preparing their kids for Aug. 16 - the first school day for Lamesa students.Families can take advantage of more financial savings through the state’s three-day Sales Tax Holiday this weekend. From Friday through Sunday, buyers can purchase certain items on the state comptroller’s list without paying the 8.25-percent sales tax.
