All students in the Lamesa school system will be completing the school year on May 20 as the result of a change to the school calendar approved by board members during their regular monthly meeting Thursday evening.The prior calendar had elementary students finishing the year May 25 while older students were scheduled to finish school May 20.The change disqualifies the district from receiving state funds to pay for summer school for elementaryaged children but it will keep them from having to go to school for an extra three days after everyone else is dismissed for the summer.“The bottom line is ...
