Technically the $21 million budget, approved by Lamesa Independent School District board of trustees in a special meeting Thursday evening, is a balanced one, but it does have a $250,000 deficit as part of a contingency plan. The deficit dips $150,000 from the district’s general fund for instruction and supplies with another $100,000 coming from the Child Nutrition Fund for school cafeterias.
