Karson Schmidt, 16-yearold son of Brent and Cheryl Schmidt of Lamesa, recently was recognized at the 4-H District 2 Gold Star Awards Banquet as the Dawson County Gold Start recipienent.Karson homeschools and is active in the Dawson County 4-H Club. Karson has served as 4-H President for the last three years and enjoys participating in archery, shotgun, photography, and educational presentation. He enjoyed competing in his first shotgun competition this year where he placed in Senior Trap.
