Dawson County Hospital District (DCHD) board members on Thursday appointed David Sanderson as the new Precinct 1 representative on the board. Sanderson takes over the seat once occupied by Tyler Roberts, who resigned from the board five months ago. Sanderson was the only candidate to file for Roberts’ seat in the upcoming May 1 election. Board members held off on appointing anyone to the board until after the deadlines for candidates to file in the races ended last month. “There’s an opening on the board, somebody’s got to do it and I’ve got experience,” Sanderson said Thursday about his reason for seeking the office.
