Sales tax on rise for second month

For the second straight month the City of Lamesa has increases in its sales tax allocations distributed by the State Comptroller’s Office in Austin. Dawson County and four nearby cities were not as fortunate. They saw negatives across the board in their monthly payments. Lamesa reaped $136,585 in its March allocation, a 9.49 percent jump when compared to the $124,737 collected last March. So far this year the city has amassed $453,656 in total sales tax payments.
