One person has now officially filed as a candidate in the Feb. 27 election to fill a vacant spot on the Lamesa City Council. Gloria Villalobos Rodriguez filed her application to become a candidate to finish an unexpired District 3 term on the council, according to City Secretary Betty Conde. Council members approved a resolution Nov. 24 calling for the election. The job became vacant when Luicano Reyes died Oct. 31. He was elected last May.
