There’s now one vacant seat on the Lamesa City Council.Morgan Vermillion resigned last month from her District 1 seat on the council.She stepped down from office due to a move to Abilene. Her husband, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Steven Vermillion, reportedly accepted a position there.Morgan Vermillion won the council seat by defeating Joey Rivas in the May 2021 election.The Press-Reporter was unable to reach her for comment.Council members serve three year terms.
