SNYDER– Scurry County was one of 77 counties in Texas approved for assistance as a result of Winter Storm Uri, Scurry County Judge Dan Hicks said Monday. “Scurry County was fortunate in that we were one of 77 of 254 counties in Texas chosen for direct assistance from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). Some counties were hit much harder than us and were not added to that list,” he said. “I am hopeful that the remaining counties will be added to the direct assistance list. There are some areas, such as Mitchell and Stonewall counties, still without water at this time.” Later ...
