Lamesa’s public school students may have skipped the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) last spring, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t being assessed on their academic progress. Texas Governor Greg Abbott canceled last year’s STAAR test when schools closed statewide in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lamesa school board members heard an update about students’ progress recently during a public hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). Lamesa Independent Schol District(LISD) Director of Instruction Richard Soliz presented the Power Point report. The TAPR is an annual report listing information on students’ performance in each school in the district.
