The recent heavy rains and flooding exposed a potentially hazardous leak in a small natural gas pipeline about five miles east of Lamesa, according to Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck. The leaking line was discovered Wednesday by county road crews who were surveying roads in that area for repairs needed as a result of a June 26 deluge and subsequent rainfall. Duyck said gas could be heard spewing from a threeinch PVC pipeline encased inside an eight-inch metal pipe at a crossing beneath County Road Q, between County Roads 18 and 19.
