Officials are still taking applications. Those applying could receive training at the prison unit at 1313 County Road 19.In the past, newcomers had to go to Plainview for training. The next academy for correctional officer training starts Sept. 20. If applicants can’t make the date next month, they can attend the following academy starting on Dec. 20. If they miss those dates, they can still get training in the academy in Plainview.
