OHS duo 2nd in national contest

Two recent O’Donnell High School (OHS) graduates headed to Nashville, Tennessee last week to pick up second-place awards in national Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) culinary competitions. Bryannah Pedroza and Dayzee Castro, coached by math teacher Mandy Nichols, each collected plaques, medals and scholarships for their teamwork on the ratio of eggs and milk needed for either custard, ice cream and other creamy dessert recipes. “The contest has a different theme every year and this year’s theme was ratio,” said Donna Forbis, FCCLA advisor and Nichols’ mother. “They were required to do a project using ratios in culinary.
