Officers hailed as heroes

Two Lamesa Police Department (LPD) officers were suppose to receive high praise from city council members and commendations for heroism Tuesday but they were unable to attend. Instead, Officer P.J. Horton and Sgt. Ashley Martinez had to wait until Friday to collect their citations of valor. They must wait a little longer before they get the ribboned medals designating them as official heroes. COVID-19 has slowed the process of obtaining the medals, which can be pinned on their dress uniforms.
