O’Donnell school board members approved Tuesday two applications asking the board to limit the appraised tax values on solar energy projects.The projects are identified as TREZ US Green Holly and TREZ US Red Holly.The Texas Tax Code allows such applications to be considered by elected officials.The chapter outlines agreements between taxpayers and school districts. Those agreements limit taxable property values, collected by school districts’ Maintenance and Operations (M&O) portion of its budget used to pay operating costs.“For 10 years, they will pay taxes at whatever tax rate we set for $25 million on M&O,” said O’Donnell Superintendent Dr. Cathy Palmer.
