ANDREWS – It has been just over a year since the new jail/sheriff’s office facility in southeast Andrews opened its doors, and so far, the single-level building has made a noticeable difference in everything from meeting current policy requirements to cost savings, according to county officials.The difference between the former 60-year-old jail building at the courthouse is like night and day, Andrews County Sheriff Rusty Stewart said.That fact was evident when the $28 million facility opened in late October 2020.Most noticeable off the bat was perhaps the substantial increase in jail bed capacity.
