Lamesa City Council members Tuesday canceled an election for mayor while making plans for another May 7 municipal election.The council canceled the mayoral election since Mayor Josh Stevens is the only candidate seeking the office. He will serve for another three years.The District 6 seat became vacant when former council member Doug Morris had to step down after filing to run in the mayoral race.
