With temperatures of 100-plus this week adding to an already concerning situation, Lamea Fire Chief Larry Duyck is urging everyone to be thoughtful and use common sense while discharging fireworks this weekend. “We’ve already had at least two fires started by fireworks,” Duyck told members of the Dawson County Commisioners court during his regular report on Tuesday. “I think everyone needs to be mindful of the situation and that we are getting dryer every day.” The fire department has responded to several grass fires, both inside and outside of the Lamesa city limits, during the past two weeks. “I would encourage everyone to use ...
