The Lamesa Middle School Golden Tornado Bands earned University Interscholastic League (UIL) awards in a recent March 9-10 competition held at Frenship High School in Wolfforth.LMS’ two bands, the Symphonic Band and the Honor Band, captured Division 1 ratings, the highest rank the musicians can achieve in UIL competitions.The Symphonic Band earned a Division I rating in the sight reading contest.The Honor Band took Division 1 in both the concert and sight reading contests.The Division I awards earned the Honor Band a Sweepstakes status.“They are a Sweepstakes band for the second year in a row.
