It is not publicly known how many candidates have applied for the job of Lamesa’s school superintendent, but the deadline for prospective candidates to submit their applications ended Wednesday.The school board began searching for a new superintendent after Jim Knight stepped down from the role last September.The board appointed Interim Superintendent Dalia Benavides, a retired school superintendent and former Lamesa principal, to take over the job until a replacement is found.
