Water wells for the City of Lamesa reportedly are producing one-third to one-half as much water as they used to since the water level is decreasing in the Ogallala Aquifer. “The aquifer is dropping substantially,” City Manager Shawna D. Burkhart told members of the Lamesa City Council last week as she presented a regional Well Information Report from the Texas Water Development Board.
