Lamesa Community Players (LCP) has established the Samuel Leonard Memorial Scholarship and is now accepting applications to be awarded this spring to a graduating senior.The scholarship is named in memory of Samuel Leonard, who had served as a Dawson County deputy before taking a similar post in Eden last spring. He was killed in the line of duty on May 10, 2021.He grew up in Dawson County and graduated from Klondike High School.The Leonard family has been a huge part of the local playhouse for generations.
