Lamesa student places 4th in state FFA event

Lamesa FFA member Sagen Oaks, age 15, placed fourth in junior prepared public speaking during the 93rd Texas FFA Convention held recently in Fort Worth. Sagen will be a sophomore at Lamesa High School this fall. “It started out with 200 competitors in the district level,” said Rusty Oaks, Lamesa FFA teacher and Sagen’s father. “Twenty-four ended up at state and they only placed the top 10 all over the State of Texas.” Sagen’s subject about natural resources was entitled, “Water is our Precious Resource.” Besides public speaking, Sagen shows sheep and pigs in livestock show competition that has taken her to San Antonio and ...
