The Lamesa school district has seen a small surge in enrollment, with an additional 18 students in class this week than showed up last month during the first week of the new academic year.The district has experienced consecutive annual five-percent drop in students enrollment for the past five to seven years.“This is the first time we’ve been up in many years,” said school Superintendent Jim Knight. “It’s a great sign for the school district.”Knight predicts more students will continue enrolling into next month.“It appears we still have some trickling in,” Knight said. “We will have some coming in October.”Student numbers ...
