A delay with the installation of a new public address (PA) system is causing the Klondike school district to delay the start of classes for the upcoming school year, according to Superintendent Steve McLaren. Instead of starting on Thursday, Aug. 12, classes are now scheduled to begin the following Monday, Aug. 16. “We weren’t comfortable starting school without a PA system,” McLaren said Thursday, noting a PA system is needed to convey emergency messages throughout the school.
