An organization that has served Lamesa for almost three-quarters of a century has ceased operations.Chartered in 1947, the Lamesa Kiwanis Club held its final weekly luncheon meeting on Tuesday.But while the Lamesa Kiwanis Club is ceasing, a new organization is springing up to continue the tradition of service for which the Lamesa Kiwanis Club has long been known.Members of the club are creating a new organization with service as the focus of both of its name and its mission.The Lamesa Service Club will basically pick up where the Lamesa Kiwanis Club has left off, according to the members.“The name may ...
