The Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing to prepare for the annual Independence Day celebration here. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 4 at Forrest Park. Activities will be similar to those of previous years. One noticeable change has the Annual Chili Cook-off being replaced by a Rib Cook-off sponsored by local Masonic Lodge Milam #11. Other activities include the parade, live music, food trucks, talent show, kickball tournament, vendors, Mr. and Miss Firecracker Pageant, and fireworks show.
