Work is expected to begin this coming week on a $1.77-million project by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to make safety improvements to U.S. Highway 87 in the northern part of Dawson County, The project will add more than six miles of cable median barriers, which are engineered to stop vehicles from crossing the median, between FM 1210 and the Lynn County line.“Cable median barriers are designed to stop vehicles from crossing the open median and prevent the worst kinds of crashes, including head-on collisions,” said Seve Sisneros, P.E, TxDOT Brownfield Area engineer.“Over the last several years, TxDOT has ...
