Dawson County Hospital District board members approved a lower tax rate Tuesday for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.They set the rate at30.0922-cents per $100 valuation, a reduction from the district’s current 33.26-cents per $100 valuation tax rate.The total tax rate will be shared by Maintenance and Operations (M&O) and Interest and Sinking (I&S).The M&O is 21.5469-cents per $100 valuation while the I&S is 8.5453-cents per $100 valuation of the total tax rate.The M&O pays for the district’s operations while the I&S covers its debt payments.The district follows other taxing entities who lowered their tax rates in the wake of increased property ...
