A helicopter that was seen and heard flying above Lamesa at various times late Thursday was part of a multi-agency law enforcement operation, according to Lamesa Police Chief Josh Peterson.“Last night we ran a criminal interdiction operation with other agencies,” Peterson told the Press-Reporter on Friday.That effort included not only local law enforcement officers but also personnel with the Lubbock police and sheriff’s departments and other agencies.“A DPS (Texas Department of Public Safety) airship was on station to provide support if we needed it,” Peterson said of the helicopter.Noting the effort was continuing, Peterson said additional information regarding arrests would ...
