Court-ordered forfeitures of items related to drug trafficking provided the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office with almost $14,000 in additional funding this past year.As part of an annual procedure, Sheriff Matt Hogg on Tuesday presented a report to the commissioners court showing his office’s special forfeiture fund received two deposits totaling $13,758 during the 2020-2021 fiscal year which ended Sept. 30.The money resulted from forfeitures of either cash or property linked to drugs.Forfeited cash can be used to buy items needed by the sheriff’s office, Hogg said.
