Flooding shuts down highways

With U.S. Hwy. 180 closed both east and west of Lamesa due to flooding – and even more rain expected – the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is urging everyone to be caution whenever encountering water over roadways. “As we say around here, ‘turn around, don’t drown,’ – don’t go through flooded roadways,” said Dianah Ascencio, public information officer for TxDOT’s Lubbock district which includes Lamesa.
