With flames licking at the front door, a mother and her three children escaped out the back before a blaze swept through their Lamesa home Wednesday afternoon. The fire pretty well destroyed the interior of the small frame home before firefighters – battling heat exhaustion as well as flames – could bring it under control. What was left of the structure, however, mostly disappeared when the flames rekindled late that night and soared through the roof before emergency personnel arrived.
