When it came to the presidential election last November, there was a small surge of residents applying to register to vote on the big day.
Fewer are registering now in advance of the upcoming May 1 elections, when three spots each will be up for election on the Lamesa city council, Lamesa school board, and the Dawson County Hospital District board.
“We haven’t received a lot of cards; applications,” said Voter Registrar Sylvia Ortiz.
